Results
What your CFT score means
Your total out of 300 places you in one of four classes. Most Marines aim for 2nd Class (200+) or higher.
| Class | Points | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Fail | 0–149 | Below minimum — does not meet USMC requirements |
| 3rd Class | 150–199 | Minimum passing — you meet the standard |
| 2nd Class | 200–234 | Solid performance — most Marines aim for this or higher |
| 1st Class | 235–300 | Outstanding — top tier fitness result |

Events
The three CFT events
Each event scores up to 100 points. Your total is the sum of all three, out of 300.
Event 1
Movement to Contact (MTC)
880-yard sprint simulating rapid movement to enemy contact. Scored second by second from the MTC table for your age group and sex.
How CFT differs from the PFTEvent 2
Ammo Can Lifts (ACL)
30-pound ammo can overhead lifts in a 2-minute window. Points come from the official age- and sex-specific rep table (Table 3-4).

Scoring
How CFT scoring works
Each event uses the age- and sex-specific tables in MCO 6100.13A (Tables 3-3 to 3-7), with separate altitude tables for the two timed events.
Movement to Contact and Maneuver Under Fire are scored second by second from the timed tables, and Ammo Can Lifts from the rep table for your age group. There is no altitude table for the ammo lift. How the CFT differs from the PFT is laid out in the PFT vs CFT comparison. For how often you take both tests, see the yearly PFT and CFT seasons.

Help
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about using the CFT calculator, entering times, and what your score means.
What is the CFT?
The Combat Fitness Test (CFT) evaluates functional combat readiness through three events: Movement to Contact (880m sprint), Ammo Can Lifts (30 lb overhead presses in 2 minutes), and Maneuver Under Fire (300-yard combat course). Maximum score is 300 points.
How often do Marines take the CFT?
Marines take one official CFT each year, between 1 July and 31 December; the PFT falls between 1 January and 30 June. See our article on how often Marines take the PFT for the details.
Is this my official CFT score?
No. This is a training estimate only. Official scores are recorded by an authorized administrator under proper test conditions.
Does altitude affect CFT scoring?
Yes. Installations at or above 4,500 feet use adjusted best-time standards for Movement to Contact and Maneuver Under Fire. Enable the altitude option in the calculator if you test at elevation.
How do I enter Movement to Contact time?
Use minutes and seconds — for example 3:00 for three minutes flat. You can type digits only: 300 automatically formats to 3:00. The calculator applies your age and gender bracket automatically.
What's the max for ammo can lifts?
It depends on your age group and sex. Under Table 3-4 the 100-point mark ranges from 95 to 120 lifts for men and from 44 to 75 for women. Extra lifts above your 100-point mark add nothing.
How accurate is this CFT calculator?
Every score is a direct lookup in the official scoring tables of MCO 6100.13A W/ADMIN CH-5 (28 May 2025), and the calculator is checked against every row of those tables before each update. A time that falls between two listed times uses the slower listed time. Small differences can occur if your unit applies waivers or admin corrections not reflected here.
What's the minimum score to pass the CFT?
For most active-duty and Reserve Marines, the minimum passing total is 150 points (3rd Class). Combat arms Marines under 2026 sex-neutral standards must meet 210 points using male age-normed tables.
Is my CFT data saved anywhere?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser. We do not store your times, reps, or scores on a server. Refreshing the page clears your entries.
Can I use this CFT calculator on my phone?
Yes. The calculator works on mobile browsers — useful for a quick check at the gym or before a unit PT session. Add the site to your home screen for one-tap access.
What about the 2026 combat arms 210-point minimum?
Enable the Combat arms (2026) toggle in the CFT calculator. It applies male age-normed scoring tables and enforces the 210-point minimum. Confirm your MOS requirements with your unit.
How is CFT scoring different from the PFT?
The CFT uses three combat-focused events: Movement to Contact and Maneuver Under Fire are scored from timed tables and ammo can lifts from a rep table. The PFT covers pull-ups or push-ups, plank, and run or row. The PFT is due in January–June and the CFT in July–December.
Ready to score your PFT too?
The PFT falls in January–June and the CFT in July–December. Calculate your physical fitness score next.
