Results
What your score means
Your total out of 300 places you in one of four classes. Most Marines aim for 2nd Class (200+) or higher.
| Class | Points | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Fail | 0–149 | Below minimum — does not meet USMC requirements |
| 3rd Class | 150–199 | Minimum passing — you meet the standard |
| 2nd Class | 200–234 | Solid performance — most Marines aim for this or higher |
| 1st Class | 235–300 | Outstanding — top tier fitness result |

Events
The three PFT events
Each event scores up to 100 points. Your total is the sum of all three, out of 300.

3-mile run or 5K row
Timed cardio event: 3-mile run or 5K row (approved alternate). Custom run mode (5K, 6K, 7K, or other) is a training estimate scaled from 3-mile tables. Use the altitude toggle at ≥4,500 ft.
Row vs run comparison
| Field | Format | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Plank | M:SS | 3:30 (or type 330) |

Scoring
How PFT scoring works
Pull-ups, push-ups, the run and the row use age- and sex-specific tables from MCO 6100.13A. The plank uses one table for everyone, from 1:10 for 40 points to 3:45 for 100.
This calculator looks up each result in those tables. For the score classes and minimums behind them, see the Marine Corps PFT standards.

Help
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about using the calculator, entering times, and what your score means.
What is a good PFT score?
A 1st Class score is 235–300 points. 2nd Class is 200–234, 3rd Class is 150–199, and below 150 is a Fail. Most Marines aim for at least 2nd Class (200+); 235+ on both PFT and CFT can support Force Fitness Instructor eligibility.
Is this my official PFT score?
No. This tool estimates your score from the numbers you enter. Official PFT results must be recorded by an authorized test administrator under proper conditions. Use this for training and planning only.
Can I use the 5K row instead of the 3-mile run?
Yes. The 5K ergometer row is an approved alternate for Marines with medical waivers or at commands with rowing equipment. Select the row option in the calculator and enter your time — scoring uses separate best-time benchmarks from the run.
What's the difference between the PFT and CFT?
The PFT tests pull-ups or push-ups, plank, and a 3-mile run or 5K row. The CFT (Combat Fitness Test) tests Movement to Contact, Ammo Can Lifts, and Maneuver Under Fire. Marines take both semi-annually.
How do I enter plank time?
Use minutes and seconds — for example 3:30 for three minutes thirty seconds. You can type digits only: 330 automatically formats to 3:30. Valid plank range is 1:10 to 3:45.
How accurate is this calculator?
Every score is a direct lookup in the official scoring tables of MCO 6100.13A W/ADMIN CH-5 (28 May 2025), and the calculator is checked against every row of those tables before each update. A time that falls between two listed times uses the slower listed time. Small differences can occur if your unit applies waivers, altitude rules, or admin corrections not reflected here. Always confirm with your unit before an official test.
Does altitude change my score?
Yes, for the cardio event — including custom training runs. At installations at or above 4,500 feet, adjusted best-time standards apply (90 seconds on the 3-mile, scaled to your custom distance). Enable the altitude toggle if you train or test at elevation.
Pull-ups or push-ups — which should I choose?
Choose the event you score higher on. Pull-ups can reach 100 points; push-ups cap at 70, so your maximum total with push-ups is 270 instead of 300. Many Marines pick pull-ups when strength allows.
What's the minimum score to pass?
For most active-duty and Reserve Marines, the minimum passing total is 150 points (3rd Class). Combat arms Marines under 2026 sex-neutral standards must meet 210 points using male age-normed tables. Each event also has individual minimums.
Is this a lung or pulmonary function (PFT) calculator?
No. This site scores the United States Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test and Combat Fitness Test — pull-ups or push-ups, plank, run or row, and CFT events. It is not a spirometry, FEV1, FVC, or medical lung-function calculator.
Is my data saved anywhere?
Nothing is stored on our servers. Scores run in your browser. Your entries stay in this browser (URL and local storage) so a refresh does not wipe them. Use Reset if you want a blank form. Official test scores still come from your unit, not this site.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes. The calculator works on mobile browsers — useful for a quick check at the gym or before a unit PT session. Add the site to your home screen for one-tap access.
Can I score a 5K, 6K, or 7K run instead of 3 miles?
Yes — select Custom run, pick 5K, 6K, 7K, or Other, and enter your time. The calculator scales official 3-mile tables (and altitude) to that distance. This is a training estimate only. Official PFT cardio must be the 3-mile run or approved 5K row.
What about the 2026 combat arms 210-point minimum?
Enable the Combat arms (2026) toggle in the calculator. It applies male age-normed scoring tables and enforces the 210-point minimum. Confirm your MOS requirements with your unit.
Ready to score your CFT too?
The PFT and CFT are paired annual tests. Calculate your combat fitness score next.
